ABOUT

"Everyone thinks they have the best dog. And none of them are wrong." - W.R. Purche

Our philosophy

Dogs of all shapes and sizes need daily exercise to be healthy and happy. When life is busy we know how hard it can be to keep up with your dog's needs. Our 2 hour adventure hikes provide a balance of mental and physical exercise to keep your dog healthy and happy. Come home to a tired dog!

Keenan - Owner and dog lover
My love for all dogs led me to this career and to becoming an entrepreneur. My wife and I have two dogs. To meet their needs, we juggled our schedules and still felt bad about leaving them for long periods. Since they were rescue dogs, we knew they needed socialization and an outlet for their energy or they would become destructive and badly behaved. It was hard to balance working full-time and making sure they had their needs met. I wanted to be the one taking my dogs on adventures every day not working a job I had no passion for.

This inspired me to fill this problem with a solution and take over Beast Canine Services from Heather Barron. She was instrumental in my early days, teaching me about dog behaviour, how to train leash etiquette and learn the warning signals of an unhappy, potentially dangerous, dog. When I initially took over Beast K9, doing daily dog hikes was never my plan for the business full time and it just came together naturally. I could work with the dogs several times a week on a variety of things and spend all my time outside with dogs. It is a perfect job; rain or shine I would rather be outside playing with dogs.

I am certified in Pet First Aid and continue to educate myself on dog behaviour and training.

Dulce and Myla
Dulce was my first rescued dog. My wife Laura brought her back from Mexico in February 2014. She had a tough life on the streets of Mexico before being rescued and taken to Tierra de Animale, an animal sanctuary. She was underweight and missing most of her fur when she arrived in Victoria. She was shy, nervous and scared. With lots of love, socialization and training she is now doing great and has regrown most of her fur as well as putting on a few extra pounds. She is a couch potato at heart and hates the rain.

Myla is our second rescued dog which we adopted in April 2016. We were looking for a friend for Dulce and so we started looking for another Mexican rescue dog. Myla had been rescued by Lost Dogs Foundation in Tulum. We don't know her whole story but she was underweight when we got her. She has become a wonderful friend for Dulce and is such a sweetheart. She loves going for walks and can barely contain herself when you pick up a leash.
